[Case Study] How Siemens Ended Their Three Month Search For Authorized Recyclers By Leveraging WasteKnot For Selling Their Scrap, At The Best Prices

Siemens is a German multinational conglomerate company headquartered in Munich and the largest industrial manufacturing company in Europe with branch offices abroad.

They are the official partners for the Chennai Metro Rail project and were looking for authorized recyclers for their LAN and coaxial cable scrap.

The Problem

For a little over three months, Sudhakar, Head of Sustainability at Siemens, was struggling to identify authorized recyclers who met Siemens’ requirements.

“Either the price they offered was too low, or they didn’t have proper documents – one way or another it was a miserable experience.”

“Believe it or not – some of the recyclers don’t even know how to generate an eWay bill.”

“At Siemens, we take all of these requirements seriously.”

“You need to have verified documents for your company, your laborers, you need to have ESI/PF documents, and you need to upfront deposit cash equivalent to or higher than the perceived value of the scrap.”

That’s an arduous deal for any recycler, let alone a trader.

The Solution

When Vishnu reached out to Sudhakar on LinkedIn, it was like a “bolt from the blue”.

“It was as if God had answered all our prayers,” he chuckles.

Within an hour, Vishnu had briefed Siemens about the process – and lined up not one but three recycling companies for a site visit.

“The speed, the ease of use - that’s something that captivated us.”

Post the site visit, three quotations were received within an hour by Siemens.

“I said to Vishnu – I expect better pricing for the coaxial cables – and within 10 minutes, we had a new bid – exceeding our expectations.”

Once the documents were signed, we were ready to roll.

The End Credits

“The entire process was smooth and easy, and we had no trouble whatsoever.
The WasteKnot team was available on site during the day of the pickup, and we completed loading within six hours.”

It was paramount that the pickup had to be completed that very day, as the Government had announced a lockdown from the next day onwards.

“Smooth, easy, trustworthy.”, Sudhakar says when asked about his experience of working with the WasteKnot by Cercle X team.

“I’m a huge supporter of technology in waste management – and I absolutely loved Cercle X. We are using them for our other offices now.”
